Other activities

Your registration fees cover an informal luncheon on the day of the seminar, 13.10.2007. A dinner will also be held that evening for all seminar participants and Asetrad members wishing to attend. The price will be around €25 (payable in Barcelona): please check the box on the form if you plan to come.

Ramblas

La Rambla

Barcelona features any number of possibilities for visitors. The seminar will be held in the heart of the city, just off “La Rambla”, an emblematic boulevard that connects Plaça de Catalunya, the main square, to the traditional harbour. In between, strollers will find the Columbus statue lookout, Virreina Palace, Boquería Market (the city’s largest), Liceo Theatre, Real Square and the Santa Mónica Art Centre.

Catedral

Barcelona Cathedral

Just minutes away is the Gothic quarter, the city’s historic core presided by Barcelona Cathedral – with its Romanesque chapel to Santa Lucía – and surrounds. Both city hall and the regional Government headquarters are located nearby, along with Plaza del Rey and the Barcelona Historical Museum. A guided walking tour of the quarter is being organized for participants on Sunday morning, 14 October. The price will be on the order of €10 (depending on the number of people interested), payable in situ. Please let us know if you would like to take part by checking the box on the form.

La Pedrera

Casa Milà ("La Pedrera")

Leading off from Plaça de Catalaunya in the opposite direction and also within easy reach is Passeig de Gràcia, where in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries Barcelona’s upper middle class erected a whole suite of modernist buildings, Antoni Gaudí’s “Casa Batlló” and “La Pedrera” among them.
